The Vondeling Philosophie showcases a deep, vibrant dark red color that unveils a remarkably rich bouquet of dark chocolate, black cherries, and aromatic blackcurrants, accented by a hint of star anise. Fine nuances of aromatic truffles, cinnamon, and vanilla pod reveal the wine’s complexity, while delicate graphite undertones linger in the background. On the palate, the wine is dense and powerful yet exhibits notable elegance, presenting a seductive interplay of ripe plums and intense cassis, enhanced by cigar box richness and robust tannins. This exquisite cuvée comprises 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 15% Petit Verdot. Philosophie is crafted only in exceptional years; 2020 and 2021 are absent from the lineup.“Philosophie” represents Vondeling’s bold vision to unite intellect, emotion, and terroir in a harmonious whole—a celebration of Vondeling’s stunning diversity! Each vintage features a unique label and artist, and this year’s selection highlights the Gazania ciliaris, a flower from the Asteraceae family, infusing the wine with vibrancy and joy.
