Description
This is just the third vintage of this wine. It’s too powerful to be used in Mario’s Classico, plus continuity is not assured, so it stands alone as a Commune wine. Only 1,200 bottles are made and it spends two years in a Slavonian botte – but instead of spending the third year in concrete, Mario is using demi-johns to try to speed up the maturation and soften the structure. There is a real Monforte brooding power here, and the wine is unlike anything else in this cellar. Mario reckons it will take him ten vintages to properly understand this wine. What a fascinating journey.Berry Bros. & Rudd
