Description
According to Alessandro, this vineyard has the highest limestone proportion in Barolo, adding a Serralunga-style structure to Monforte’s strength. This is mitigated a little by the vineyard’s altitude, which sits at 400m. The estate has 4 hectares here, but only 1 hectare from selected parcels is used for this wine. The wine is elegant, with floral notes and plenty of fruit. It appears initially lush for the vintage, but the grainy and sandy tannins of the vintage and vineyard are reasserted on the finish. There is plenty to consider here.Berry Bros. & Rudd
