Description
The maritime influence struck me first, I found the nose more savoury than any I have come across from the distillery. Quite umami: salty seaweed and charred salmon skin. The gentle, floral peat is worn really rather well – never getting lost amongst the big, first-fill oak, supporting and complimenting that character rather than shouting over it. The back-palate brings those deep, woody flavours. Roasted nuts, salted caramel, heather honey. The viscous, oily structure doesn’t quite compare to that of the older, age-statement Highland Parks, nonetheless there is plenty of texture there to support a delicious and complete dram.Tom Leigh, Account Manager, Berry Bros. & Rudd
